As our business continues to grow, we're looking for a skilled Retrofit Designer to join our technical team.

The Role

As a Retrofit Designer, you will be responsible for developing detailed, PAS 2035-compliant retrofit designs for a range of domestic properties.

Working closely with Retrofit Coordinators and Assessors, you will translate assessment findings into practical, cost-effective specifications that meet client requirements and regulatory standards.

You will play a key role in ensuring our retrofit programmes deliver measurable improvements to energy performance while maintaining the integrity and safety of the building fabric.

Key Responsibilities

  • Produce Retrofit Designs in accordance with PAS 2035 and relevant industry standards.
  • Develop detailed specifications for fabric measures, heating, ventilation and other energy efficiency improvements.
  • Review Retrofit Assessment reports and translate findings into compliant design solutions.
  • Carry out or review RdSAP modelling to demonstrate the predicted energy performance of proposed measures.
  • Assess and manage risks associated with retrofit measures, including moisture, overheating and ventilation.
  • Produce clear, accurate and comprehensive design documentation and specifications.
  • Liaise with Retrofit Coordinators, Assessors, clients and contractors throughout the design process.
  • Ensure designs are practical, buildable and aligned with available budgets and programme requirements.
  • Support post-installation review and sign-off processes where required.
  • Comply with relevant health and safety requirements and company procedures.

About You

We're looking for a technically capable designer who takes pride in producing high-quality, compliant retrofit designs that make a real difference to the properties and people they serve.

You'll be detail-oriented, methodical and comfortable working across a range of property types and construction methods.

Essential Requirements

  • Retrofit Designer qualification or equivalent relevant technical qualification.
  • Strong working knowledge of PAS 2035 and the retrofit standards framework.
  • Experience producing retrofit designs for domestic properties.
  • Understanding of building physics, fabric performance and moisture risk.
  • Competence in RdSAP modelling and energy performance assessment.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to produce accurate technical documentation.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within a project team.
  • Good IT skills including use of design and modelling software.
  • Full UK driving licence.

Desirable Experience

  • Experience designing retrofit measures for large-scale domestic programmes under ECO, Warm Homes or similar schemes.
  • Knowledge of traditional and non-traditional construction types.
  • Experience working with social housing providers, local authorities or principal contractors.
  • Familiarity with PAS 2030 and relevant Building Regulations.
  • Experience using Elmhurst or other recognised energy assessment software.
  • Knowledge of mechanical ventilation, heat pump systems and low-carbon heating technologies.
